Everyone who knows me knows that the house where I live has been in a constant state of remodel for the past two years. You can see that the kitchen has pretty new tile and cabinets, and you can see that the living room wall has been painted a fun green color. You can also see that the living room floor is old school oak hardwood from the 1960s and that there are no baseboards or door trim. Well there are reasons. Door trim can't go up until the base is installed, and the base can't be installed until the new flooring is laid. So... Jon to the rescue! He's good at building stuff. According to him, that's why they call him "Jon the Pro." Last Friday he painted the last big wall in the living room, and today he got busy on the floor.

My sisters had to go to the fabric store this afternoon, so they left Chris to help Jon because they figured he would be bored at Jo-Ann's. He seemed leery of the idea of helping to lay the floor, but Jon put him in charge of the plastic strips (The floor is "click together" bamboo veneer). So Chris got to use a hammer and tin snips to put the click strips in place. I took a photo for evidence of his doing something so awesomely handy.

And here it is: The floor. There are a couple of rip cuts left to do along one wall, and then the transition pieces where the bamboo meets the tile need to go in, and then there will be a whole new living room floor. It's so pretty, and I'm so excited!

Only like 936 more projects to go... But really only a very few not-very-big ones before the house looks like people actually live here.
